My Story

Holocene Travel was created after a simple realisation, that the most meaningful travel experiences rarely come from what’s obvious.

After years spent travelling across more than 80 countries, living in places like China and the Middle East, I began to notice a pattern. The trips that stayed with me weren’t the most comfortable, the most expensive, or the most straightforward. They were the ones that challenged me, that felt unfamiliar at first, the ones I wouldn’t have thought to plan.

Too often, travel is reduced to checklists, well-worn routes, and predictable itineraries. It becomes easy, comfortable — and ultimately forgettable.

Holocene Travel was created by me, Gavin Bray as an alternative to standard package tours. What sets me apart isn’t just my process; it’s the intention behind it. I take time to understand you, and utilise my first-hand experience to create something truly unique. A more considered approach to travel, one that prioritises depth over convenience, perspective over routine, and experience over expectation.

Every journey is designed with this in mind: to take you beyond what you would have planned for yourself, and into something more immersive, more personal, and more memorable.
